Guidehouse Sponsors Book on the History of Women in the Utilities Industry

The story charts the path of Edith Clarke, the first professional female electrical engineer in the United States, and highlights today’s women CEOs who continue to break down barriers across the country’s utilities. Michelle Fay, partner at Guidehouse, contributed a sponsor note emphasizing impact of the book in recognizing the influence of women in the development of today’s electric utilities industry.

In an interview with Fay that will appear in the July issue of Public Utilities Fortnightly, she explains why Guidehouse decided to sponsor the new book about women leaders in the utility sector. “Diversity is something we're passionate about. In the book, Public Utilities Fortnightly’s Steve Mitnick tells the story of Edith Clarke, a pioneer of her generation of women innovators who significantly accelerated the electric grid’s development in the early twentieth century. He also highlights the courageous women who broke through the barriers to leadership in the late twentieth century. The book ends with profiles of the great female CEOs, COOs, CFOs and GCs of today, in investor, publicly, and cooperative-owned utilities across the country.
