While enterprise risk management (ERM) remains an emerging capability across the US federal government, its effectiveness and integration in agency operations continue to improve.
In an interview with the Federal News Network, Kate Sylvis, director at Guidehouse, discusses key findings from the most recent survey conducted with the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM). This eighth annual survey found promising developments in the ERM space, as ERM adoption accelerates across government agencies and the maturity of these programs continues to improve, allowing agencies to incorporate more sophisticated processes around ERM.
"There are a lot of really big challenging complex objectives that the administration wants to achieve," said Sylvis. "I think we have to talk about what risks we’re willing to take in order to achieve those big complex objectives because we’re not going to be able to do it if we have a completely risk-averse approach."
